James Edward Melton, 85, of Clark, Wyoming passed away April 24, 2024. James was born Feb. 16, 1939 in Oklahoma City to James Ewell Melton and Mamie Ethel (Cullers) Melton. He was the fifth of eight children.
The family resettled in Independence, Missouri where he graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army for six years, married Regina Probst in 1963. She died of cancer in 1986. He found love again and married Nancy Lovold in 1987. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1968 and started his career in Wisconsin forest management from which he retired in 1997. He moved to Clark, Wyoming in 1998 and pursued his hobbies of hunting, fishing, hiking and horseback riding. His stepdaughter, Rebecca, provided two delightful grandsons. Blessed with love and a wealth of friends during his life he leaves this one with the comfort of a life well lived.
