The Park County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about an incident in rural Meeteetse, in which a hunter’s vehicle was struck by a bullet.
Around 8:30 a.m. Dec. 14 on Road 3NG, a man was loading a harvested deer into his truck when he heard a “clank,” followed by a dark-colored vehicle quickly leaving the area.
He didn’t think too much of it until he got back into his truck and noticed a strange smell, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. After checking under the hood, the hunter observed damage and an apparent bullet hole in his lower passenger fog light.
“He then realized the ‘clank’ and the dark colored truck were probably all related,” said Charla Torczon, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department and sheriff’s office were notified along with the landowner, who said only the man whose vehicle was shot had permission to be hunting in the area that morning. The property is located northeast of Meeteetse.
Anyone with any information about this crime, or any crime, is being encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 307-754-8700 or use its “Tip Line” at parkcountysheriff.net/tip-line/.
