Groups to host tailgate dinner prior to football game against Lander

Posted

Powell Panther football fans will have a chance to eat some barbecue prior to the Sept. 9 home game against Lander.

Starting at 6 p.m., Powell Valley Healthcare is joining forces with the Powell Athletic Roundtable to serve a meal that includes a pulled-pork sandwich, chips, pop and a cookie for $7. The pork is from a hog purchased at the local junior livestock sale.

“We’ll start serving food at 6 p.m. at the south end of the bleachers at Panther Stadium,” said Tracy Walsh, Roundtable president, in a release.

All money from the event goes to the Powell Athletic Roundtable to benefit Panther athletics. Roundtable members will also be selling tickets for a chance to win a football autographed by the team, steak from Roger’s Meat Processing, and a propane refill from Quality Propane. Panther fans can also support the Roundtable by signing up as a member at the game.

Funds given to the Powell Athletic Roundtable are used to support the various athletic programs and the student-athletes at Powell High School and Powell Middle School. The Roundtable provides food for hospitality rooms for tournaments, helps with purchasing equipment and uniforms for athletes, medals for track meets, also provides plaques and other items for awards banquets, and college scholarships for student athletes at Powell High School.
