I’m Abigail LeBlanc, the most recent intern at the Powell Tribune. I’m a current senior at Powell High School and have recently discovered my passion for journalism and providing news stories to the public. About a year ago, my family and I moved to this Wyoming community from Las Vegas where I was born and raised. I became interested in journalism while living in the city and witnessing the news reports on a wide range of issues.
This fall, I hope to attend the United States Air Force or Naval academies. In college, I will major in biology with a concentration in pre-law. Afterward, I plan to achieve a J.D. before pursuing a military career as a Judge Advocate General (JAG). Delivering information and stories to this community will help long-term in my career and passion to inform.
Since much of my interest is in the criminal process and analysis, many of my hobbies fall under a forensic science and journalism classification. In my very limited free time, I spend it with my family, writing, reading, wrestling, keeping up to date on criminal cases, hiking, volunteering, sewing and hunting. Most spare time activities are family-oriented, like our family’s big-game hunting excursions.
I’m beyond excited to intern at the Powell Tribune as it will provide me with real-world experience and grant me the opportunity to deliver news stories to our community. Being a trustworthy, honest and reliable source of information for the public has always been a passion of mine and is essential to journalism. I cannot wait to spend this semester with the Tribune as the intern.
