Gas increase

PUBLIC NOTICE
The Wyoming Public Service Commission (Commission) approved the Application of Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. (MDU) to pass-on a wholesale gas cost increase of $0.408 per dekatherm (Dth) to Residential, Firm General Service, and Small and Large Interruptible Service customers, and an increase of $0.401 per Dth to Optional Seasonal customers, effective for usage on and after September 1, 2021. The increases are primarily due to an increase in the overall wholesale commodity price of natural gas. The Commission’s approval is subject to notice, protest, intervention, refund, change, further investigation, opportunity for hearing and further order of the Commission.
The average residential customer using 2.10 Dth, in September 2021, will incur a bill increase of approximately $0.86 (2.74%) before taxes. Actual bills will vary with usage.
The proposed pass-on results in a projected dollar-for-dollar increase of approximately $32,000 in MDU’s September 2021 revenues. The increase does not change MDU’s authorized rate of return.
Commission Rule Chapter 3, Section 26 allows a utility to pass-on, to its customers, known or projected wholesale commodity cost increases or decreases, on a dollar-for-dollar basis, subject to public notice, opportunity for hearing and refund.
MDU’s Application is on file at the Commission’s offices in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and is available for inspection by any interested person during regular business hours or online at: http://psc.wyo.gov.
Anyone desiring to file a statement, intervention petition, protest, or request for hearing must do so on or before November 24, 2021. An intervention or request for hearing must set forth its grounds and the position and interest of the petitioner. Please reference Docket No. 30013-377-GP-21 in your communications.
If you wish to participate in this matter and you require reasonable accommodation for a disability, please contact the Commission at (307) 777-7427 or 2515 Warren Avenue, Suite 300, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82002, to make arrangements.
