Shoshone National Forest firefighters are currently responding to a new fire in the Clocktower area in the North Fork Shoshone River drainage. The 2-acre fire was reported late in the afternoon on Sunday, Sept. 26 and is located near the wilderness boundary, roughly 4 miles south of the North Fork highway.
Two helicopters from the Crater Ridge Fire on the Bighorn National Forest and the Sand Creek Fire on the Shoshone National Forest are responding to support ground firefighters with personnel transport and water drops. The cause of this fire is under investigation.
With continued warm and dry conditions, forest visitors should remain extra cautious with campfires and other potential ignition sources.
