Elva Elaine (Rickman) English, 85, passed away in Martinsburg, West Virginia, on Dec. 31, 2022, from ongoing health issues.

Ora and Floetta Rickman welcomed their third daughter into the world on March 21, 1937, in Powell, Wyoming. Upon graduating from Powell High School in 1955, Elaine was married to William “Bill” English on July 6, 1955. Elaine and Bill were blessed with four children, Rick, Kathy, Kimberly and Krystal.

Living in Wyoming offered many outdoor activities that the family loved to do together — hunting, fishing, camping, Christmas tree cutting and spending time at the trailer on the Bighorn Mountains. Elaine drove school bus for the Powell School District for many years; she took pride delivering the children to school in the morning and safely back home in the afternoon. After retiring, Elaine and Bill relocated to Martinsburg, West Virginia. This is where they spent the remainder of their years.

Elaine was preceded in death by parents Ora and Floetta Rickman; husband, William L. English; sisters Phyllis Risk and Roberta Johnson, brother Marvin Rickman and daughter-in-law Cindy English.

Elaine is survived by children Rick (Rosanne) English, Falling Waters, West Virginia; Kathy (Jerry) Guthrie, Montgomery, Texas; Kim English, Martinsburg, West Virginia; and Krystal (Marc) Gehrts, Worland, Wyoming.

She is also survived by grandchildren Derek (Gabriel) English, Hilary (Todd Grantham) Long, Kali Lindley, Jordan (Chelsea) English, Jon (Sarah) Gehrts, Brad (Britney) Gehrts; great-grandchildren Julia English, Christopher English, Hannah English, Aubree English, Gezibelle English, Jazmyn Brown, Christopher Gehrts, Ashlyn Gehrts, Reagan Gehrts, Revey Gehrts and Sebastian Gehrts.

It was the wish of Elaine to have no memorial services. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for Mom while she was in the hospital at WVU Medicine Berkeley Care Medical Center, with a special thanks to the staff in ICU for the wonderful care given in her final days.
