Edwards placed second in a field of 90 golfers at Casper's Paradise Valley course. “I like to say that I won the ‘legally able to drink' division,” joked Edwards, who noted that many of her top challengers at the event were young college-age golfers. “I was the top elder.”Joking aside, Edwards enjoyed a great three days of competition against her younger challengers, carding rounds of 76, 74 and 77 on the par-71 layout. Her three-day total left her eight strokes off the winning pace, but in front of the rest of the field. “It was a tremendous experience to golf with so many young ladies,” Edwards said of her time at the event. “It's nice to see so many young folks getting involved in the sport, because there are so many scholarship opportunities out there in college for female golfers. It's a great opportunity that they have right now.”This marked Edwards' first appearance in the Wyoming state amateur event. She had previously played in the New Hampshire state amateur tournament but admits this is her best finish to date in a statewide amateur competition. Edwards plays approximately 10 tournaments a year by her estimation. She'll be attending the Wyoming Mid-Am event in Riverton next week.
