Approximately 80 people attended the annual Memorial Day morning service at the Bennett Butte Cemetery in Clark to honor and mourn U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the armed forces.
Members of American Legion Post 84, some of whom live in Clark, conducted the observance, which included a traditional rifle salute.
A prayer of thanks for those who serve was given by chaplain Joe Witty. Sam Kuntz delivered a talk about service personnel who have fought for freedom worldwide on behalf of the United States. Following that, Witty laid a wreath at the base of the flagpole and raised the banner from half-staff to full display.
The ceremony is sponsored by the Bennett Butte Cemetery Board of Directors, led by Rose Cox, and many volunteers.
