The Wyoming Community College Commission (WCCC) concluded a three-day special meeting last week and voted to select Ben Moritz as the next Wyoming Community College Commission executive director. According to a release, Moritz’s selection was the culmination of a six month long, national, transparent, and comprehensive search to identify a new executive director following the impending retirement of the current executive director.
Having served, most recently as deputy director of the WCCC, Moritz will continue to bring extensive higher education experience to Wyoming’s Community College System. In his capacity as deputy director, Dr. Moritz has had a profound impact in serving the citizens and students of the state through his management contributions to the Wyoming Innovation Partnership, Statewide Common Course Numbering System, the Statewide Longitudinal Educational Database System, Community College System Sustainable Funding and for the advancement of career and technical programs which address the workforce needs of Wyoming, the release said.
Commission Chair Megan Goetz said, "The Commission is confident and excited in the leadership Dr. Moritz will provide to the WCCC, the community colleges and the State of Wyoming. We have a unique opportunity to enhance and advance post-secondary educational possibilities and are thrilled to have Dr. Moritz continue these efforts.”
