The University of Wyoming soccer team clinched a share of the Mountain West Conference regular-season title Thursday night. With the Cowgirls 4-0 victory at Colorado State coupled with a 0-0 draw between New Mexico and San Diego State, Wyoming shared the regular-season title for the first time since 2018.

“It’s so fun for me to see all of the hard work the girls have put in since our season ended last year come to fruition,” coach Colleen Corbin said. “I’m so thankful for my staff who has always had my back, who has believed in my vision. I’m so thankful for the girls that have bought in completely and selflessly into the process. I couldn’t have scripted it any better.”

“The Cowgirls also earned the No. 1 seed and a bye into the semifinals of the conference tournament. San Jose State defeated Fresno State, 1-0, to vault themselves into a three-way tie with Wyoming and New Mexico at 20 points — a three-way tie that the Cowgirls won.

The soccer team had a collection of four honored with postseason Mountain West Conference awards. Senior Jamie Tatum, junior Alyssa Bedard, freshman Alyssa Glover and Corbin all reeled in recognition.Tatum led the way, earning Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year in addition to being named to the First-Team.

She paced the Cowgirls and the conference in many statistical categories. She topped the league with nine goals, three game-winning goals — all which were scored in the final two minutes of a match — and 22 points. She added a team-best four assists, which ranked fourth in the MW.

Tatum is the first Cowgirl to win an award of this magnitude since Taylor Burton — current director of player development — won Mountain West Conference Defender of the Year in 2018.

Bedard joined Tatum on First-Team, as she netted five goals, which ranked second on the team and eighth in the conference. Half of those scores were game-winners, while Bedard added an assist on the season for a total of 11 points.

Glover garnered All-Newcomer Team after scoring a pair of goals and having two assists for six points. En route to this recognition, Glover won Offensive and Freshman of the Week honors after scoring a goal and having an assist in Wyoming’s trip to the state of Nevada. Corbin won Mountain West Coach of the Year after guiding the Cowgirls to a share of the regular-season title and the No. 1 seed at the upcoming conference tournament.

Wyoming was picked ninth in the Preseason Coaches Poll. Wyoming begins its Mountain West Conference Tournament on Wednesday in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Cowgirls battle San Diego State at 6 p.m. at the UNM Soccer Complex.
