Cody Community Theatre actors new and old will be gracing the stage of the Wynona Thompson Auditorium to tell the story of three hardworking women who push back against their oppressive boss.
The theater group will be performing the Dolly Parton classic “9 to 5” Thursday-Saturday at 7 p.m. Saturday will feature an additional matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at showtix4u.com or through Cody Community Theatre’s Instagram and Facebook. Tickets are $15-$25.
“We are always conscious of what our community is going to be interested in,” Director Drew Murray said.
She added that they have not done a play with “some good ole country music yet,” and Dolly Parton is having a resurgence in popularity.
Auditions began after Halloween and the cast has been rehearsing three times a week. It’s “a really big set show” Murray said, noting that they have had good set builders and the cast also pitch in between scenes.
In addition to managing the sets, the play features a unique cast, Murray said. There are a lot of new faces and some old ones who haven’t had a chance in the spotlight yet.
There will also be a photo booth, raffle baskets and props for purchase before the show for audience participation.
