American Legion Commander will visit Big Horn Basin

Posted

American Legion National Commander Vincent Troiola, will be visiting the Big Horn Basin Monday through Wednesday.

Jim Troiola was elected the National Commander of The American Legion in September.  He is from Rockland County, New York, and served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserves from 1969 to 1974. Troiola has undertaken the mission of “Be The One,” a mission intended to curb the tide of veteran suicides.

“There’s been several different causes trying to prevent suicide. We really don’t want to concentrate on the numbers of the veterans that have taken their lives today because unfortunately, they are gone,” Troiola said, “but if we concentrate on getting that relationship going, one veteran at a time, that’s why it’s called Be The One.”

This visit is a prime opportunity for veterans, whether American Legion members or not, to visit with the National Commander of the nation’s largest veteran’s organization about issues and topics important to them.
