Absaroka Senior Living events commemorate National Assisted Living Week

A weeklong celebration kicks off Sunday, as Absaroka Senior Living in Cody joins tens of thousands of assisted living communities across the country in marking National Assisted Living Week.

Absaroka is promoting this year’s theme of “Compassion, Community, Caring.”

“This year’s National Assisted Living Week will be a week-long celebration honoring our staff and residents,” said Pia Brauser, community relations director of Absaroka Senior Living. “‘Compassion, Community, Caring’ reflects the hard work and dedication of our caregivers. It also highlights the importance of family and remaining connected to those you love.”

Absaroka is offering multiple activities during the week, all designed to adhere to safety requirements and guidelines set forth by the Wyoming Department of Health. The events include:

• Let’s Get This Party Started: On Monday, Sept. 13, wear pajamas all day and enjoy fresh morning bagels/donuts. Attendees can also get Absaroka’s weeklong “Bingo Bash,” “Who Am I?” game and other activities started.

• Tailgate Party: On Wednesday, Sept. 15, at noon, wear your favorite team jersey and enjoy a potluck tailgate party and ice cream social.

• Old Fashioned Barbecue: On Friday, Sept. 17 at noon, dress western and enjoy BBQ fare. Game winners will be announced with a few additional surprises in the afternoon to wrap up the week.

“We encourage members of the community to get involved and visit Absaroka and check out our Facebook page,” Brauser said, adding that the page includes a summary of the plans and an opportunity to stay informed during National Assisted Living Week.

“Engaging with our staff and residents is a fun, rewarding experience. It’s like having a week-long family reunion,” Brauser said. “Our mission is quite simple.  We are guided by goodness, loyalty, faith and fun.”

National Assisted Living Week was created by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) in 1995 to recognize the role of assisted living in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities. First Quality is sponsoring the Sept. 12-18 celebration across the country. For more information, visit www.ahcancal.org/NALW.
