The Park County Library Foundation is holding the Third Annual Winter Author Festival on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Cody Library. Attendees can anticipate a day adorned with the magic of winter, featuring literary exploration, engaging workshops, author readings and an opportunity to connect with local authors from all around the region.

The day commences with a Meet and Greet at Pardners Cafe (located inside the library) from 9:30-10 a.m. Normally closed on weekends, the cafe will remain open all day on Saturday, providing attendees with a place to gather, discuss books and purchase refreshments.

The festival continues with a diverse range of workshops from 10-11:10 a.m., offering valuable insights and skills to aspiring writers and avid readers alike. Grizzly Hall will be abuzz with author readings from 11:20 a.m.-1:20 p.m., where talented local authors will share excerpts from their latest works.

This year’s keynote speaker is Robyn Cutter, Park County archivist. Cutter will delve into the rich history of early Cody authors dating back to as early as 1910 through approximately the 1990s. Her talk will highlight books and authors discovered through newspaper searches and those preserved in the Park County Archives. The topics will range from local history, family history, children’s books, the west, cookbooks, ranching, art and even include a humorous search for a copy of a book published by Pacific Power and Light in 1972. Cutter notes, “Pacific Power is putting out a new book of recipes, a special feature being that every recipe is guaranteed not to give you gas!”

At 1:30-2:30 p.m. Cutter shares insights into the literary legacy that has shaped the community.

Following the keynote address, the much-anticipated book signing session will run from 2:40-5 p.m., providing readers with a unique opportunity to connect with and obtain personalized copies from their favorite authors.

In addition to the literary festivities, a silent auction will unfold throughout the day, featuring author baskets and other book treasures. It will conclude at 4:30 p.m., with winners announced before 5 p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Park County Library Foundation, supporting its mission to foster a love for literature and community engagement.
