Selma (Meinhardt) Pittman Kary, 100, went to her heavenly home on Jan. 10, 2024.

Sammie was born in Lovell, Wyoming to Carl and Anna (Ungefug) Meinhardt on March 10, 1923. Sammie was one of 10 children — seven girls and three boys.

She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Sammie had many hobbies, including gardening and tending to her flower beds. In her younger years, she spent most weekends searching around Park County for old bottles and antiques with her two boys. Sammie worked as a bookkeeper for Foodbasket IGA for many years. She was also an avid seamstress and quilter, making many of her own clothes and quilts for each of her family members.

Selma was married to Herbert O. Pittman in 1941 until his death in 1959. They had two sons, Dennis and Herb. In 1970 she married John F. Kary until his death seven months later.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Herbert Pittman and John Kary; her father Carl and mother Anna Meinhardt; six sisters, Elizabeth Winterholler, Olga Robbins, Kate Dickerson, Emma DeVoss, Irene Haney, Martha Hill and three brothers, Rudolph, John and Phillip Meinhardt.

Sammie is survived by her eldest son Dennis (Kathi) Pittman of Gillette, and grandchildren Becky (Jack) Eden of Gillette, Dennis O. Pittman of Hawaii, Michael Pittman of Utah, Christopher (Heather) Pittman of Texas; her youngest son, Herb (Diane) Pittman of Powell, and grandchildren Lisa (Mike) Musso of Powell, Troy Pittman of Powell and Jennifer (Jed) Teel of Sheridan. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and Loretta Kolb, who was raised as a sister.

Funeral services will be Friday Feb. 16, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Powell, Wyoming. Reverend Kenneth Mars will officiate.
