Second annual Jim Beavers Memorial Graveyard Gallop Run/Walk is Saturday

The Homesteader Museum is putting on the second annual Jim Beavers Memorial Graveyard Gallop 10K/5K/1 mile Run/Walk on Saturday not too far from the inaugural race last year.

The event will take place at Rocky Mountain Blasting & Coatings. All races will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Last year the race went through the Crown Hill Cemetery, but afterward a majority of cemetery board members determined not to allow the event to be held inside the grounds going forward.

The Run/Walk registration forms are available at the Homesteader Museum or online through Run Sign-Up. If runners of the 5K/10K want a guaranteed accurate time, sign up before the deadline Friday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m.

You can also sign up race day between 8-9 a.m. at Rocky Mountain Blasting & Coatings (699 Lane 9). Cost is $25 for the 10K, $20 for the 5K, and $10 for the 1 mile, however there will be no guarantee of accurate time recording for the 5K and 10K.

Prizes will be awarded upon the completion of the races. All funds raised will go to the Homesteader Museum Association, Inc. for children’s scholarships for workshops offered at the Homesteader Museum and education/professional development training.

Community sponsors include Powell Valley Healthcare, Rocky Mountain Blasting & Coating, Powell Tribune, Baxter Law and Vision West. The day of the run/walk, you can also fill out an order form to purchase  Graveyard Gallop T-shirts, which are expected to be ready to pick up the night of Sample the Seasons on Nov. 16.

Come dressed in a Halloween costume or green and yellow Green Bay Packers Gear (Jim’s favorite team).
