The mainstay of the Sage Creek Community Club has been the tradition of country dances, cake auctions, bingo and pinochle games along with carry-in suppers.
In the club’s early history, the main one was the March of Dime Dance to benefit different community charities that the membership would pick after the dance and auctions were held.
The area towns, including Meeteetse, Powell, Ralston, and various clubs from upper and lower Southfork, Wapiti, Heart Mountain and Garland supported the club’s events. Home-baked and canned goods were auctioned off. Donated music and a local auctioneer would keep the evening lively.
One hundred years later the tradition is still going strong. The benefit dance and auction was recently held once again. Join us for our regular monthly carry-in supper, meeting and program.
The program this month is about those old coins that you have rattling around in jars, boxes, and cans. Mike Riley of Michael’s Coins is our program for April 13 at 6:30 p.m. Riley sells, appraises and purchases coins. He asks the club members to bring their gold, silver, paper and ancient currency; he will teach us how to identify and recognize the importance of each.
Members and guests are asked to bring side dishes to share with the ham dinner.
