After a year to remember on the court, Powell High School junior libero Alexa Richardson garnered her first postseason honors after being named to the 3A West All-Conference team.
Richardson was a force in the back line for the Panther defense, leading the team with 375 digs on the season while averaging 3.1 digs per set.
She also had a strong season in the service game, finishing with 50 aces while boasting a 93.7% serving percentage.
Those two statistics were improved over her sophomore season, when she finished with 317 digs and 30 aces.
This was Richardson’s second season stepping into the libero role for the Panthers, helping anchor a team that advanced to the state championship game earlier this month.
Richardson will look to continue improving next season to lead a team that loses five seniors.
One of those seniors who was an honorable mention for All-Conference honors, said coach Lesli Spencer, was outside hitter Waycee Harvey.
Harvey finished second on the team in kills with 213 for the season and was fourth on the team in aces with 40.
She was also third on the team in digs behind Richardson and fellow senior Addy Thorington with 299, and had the second most service returns on the team with 701 while only committing 66 return errors.
The other athlete who will be returning to the team and who Spencer said was an honorable mention for All-Conference honors was junior middle Saige Kidd.
Kidd slid into the middle this season and had a dominant performance, finishing with 199 total blocks, including 105 of those solo to lead the entire state in that category.
She also had a strong attacking season at the net, finishing with 193 kills — boasting a 38.4% attacking percentage.
Kidd’s kills increased by 28 from the year prior, but her kill percentage increased by 20% over the year prior while she increased her total blocks by over 100 from her sophomore season.
