Posted

For the second year the Park County Travel Council will conduct a tourism-focused grant program for projects within the county that enhance the tourism industry through new outdoor recreation infrastructure, non-resident experiences and other tourism offerings impacting local communities.

The program is available to all types of organizations such as for-profit companies and nonprofit entities as well as local, county and tribal governments.

The bed tax-funded Park County Travel Council, also known as Cody Yellowstone, will accept grant applications April 1-June 14, 2024. A total of up to $200,000 will be available. Individual grants will range from $10,000-100,000.

“After a successful first year with some worthwhile projects, we are excited for round two,” said Ryan Hauck, executive director of Cody Yellowstone.

Grants were awarded last year to Sleeping Giant Ski Area for road maintenance and a tubing park, the Town of Meeteetse for a revitalization project, That Other Project for pit toilets at Outlaw Trailhead, Fist Full of Dirt for various enhancements, Project Elevate for signage and flagging, Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation for restoration of its root cellar and the City of Powell for the Bean Mill Mural.

Initial applications will be reviewed by the Destination Development Committee comprised of Hauck and four members of the PCTC Board of Directors. Successful applications will be pre-approved or denied by July 25. In-person presentations to the complete Board of Directors of the Park County Travel Council will take place Aug. 15, and grants will be awarded within 30 days of the presentations.
