Elbie L. Farlow, a longtime resident of Cody, Wyoming passed away peacefully at Spirit Mountain Hospice House on Monday, Feb. 19. Elbie was born on May 18, 1937 in Kansas. He moved to Cody with his parents Francis (Buss) and Bessie Farlow when he was 8 years old.
He was married to Ida Lorraine Schacht on Jan. 21, 1956. Elbie and Lorraine were blessed with five children, Sandi, Deb, Ed, Karen and Teresa. Lorraine passed away in 2008 after 52 years of marriage. Elbie re-married Michelle Farlow in 2009. Michelle brought a son, Mike, to the family. Michelle passed away in 2018.
Elbie worked for the Wyoming Department of Transportation as an engineering and materials technician for over 30 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and served in many capacities, including as state president.
Survivors include Sandi Farlow, Deb Schultz-Grimes, Karen Bauch, Teresa Farlow, Mike Farlow, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend Elaine Allshouse, and his dog Max.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. The family requests memorials be made to Spirit Mountain Hospice, Cody, Wyoming. Condolences can be shared on Elbie’s page at ballardfh.com.
