Betty Louise McIntyre was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Bonnie A. McIntyre and Gladys McIntyre. She started school in a one room country school in Dillworth, Oklahoma, which was an oilfield camp. Graduating from Blackwell High School in 1935, she attended college for one year in Tonpaw, Oklahoma. In 1954 she married Orvin Hicks who worked for Halliburton. In 1956 they moved to Powell where her four sons were born: Bruce in 1956, Larry in 1958, Kelly in 1959 and Barry in 1961.

In 1971 she married Jim Kranz who had three sons, Don, Dan and Mark. So with a family of seven boys and liking the outdoors as she did the family spent a lot of time-traveling, camping, fishing, hunting and rock hounding, which she and her boys started here in Powell. She actually started the large family together in Lake Tahoe, where the couple followed their kids in their education and very active sports lives in all sports. She was active in work as an Avon representative as one of the top sales reps in the United States, winning awards every year and trips such as to Hawaii, but she also subbed as manager at times of need by the company. She was very much loved by most of all her friends and clients and would go out of her way to help anyone.

After 25 years at Lake Tahoe, she and Jim moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma in 1992 to be near her aging father. During the next 25 years much time was spent traveling, usually to spend time with kids from the Carolinas to Alaska, Colorado and Wyoming, but also great vacations to Canada, Europe and Mexico at Baja. She was convinced to move back to Powell by her kids in 2020 and they lined her up at the Rocky Mountain Manor, which is like a big family as well.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Bonnie Ray McIntyre; and step-son Daniel Kranz. Survivors are sons Bruce (Kim) Hicks, of Powell; Larry (Rox) Hicks, Baggs, Wyoming; Kelly Hicks of Powell; Barry (Dorothy) Hicks of Colorado Springs, Colorado; stepsons Donald Kranz, Columbia, South Carolina; Mack (Tami) Kranz, Columbia, South Carolina; sister Jan McIntyre Boyer, Fairview, Oklahoma; brother Michael McIntyre, Edmond, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
