Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, March 19 at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church for Victoria G. Hernandez, 92, who died Monday, March 17 at her Powell home.

Father Glen Szezechowski officiated at services and burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Victoria was born Dec. 23, 1915, in Salmanca, Mexico, daughter of Jose and Avelina Gutierrez. She married Jesus P. Hernandez.

She was a long-time cafeteria worker at Powell High School. A member of the Catholic Church, she was fond of crafts.

Survivors include sons Jesse Hernandez of Powell and Victor Abarca of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughters Marina Hernandez of Powell, Louise Gutierrez of Idaho Falls and Connie Hernandez of Dubois, Idaho; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Gutierrez of California, Guadalupe Gonzales of Powell and Ramona Montoya of Powell; 23 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus; her son, Refugio Hernandez; and her daughters, Josie Moreno, Ramona Hernandez, Christine Winters and Mary Jesse Weatland.

Pallbearers  at the funeral included Erick Marquez, Juan Luis Marquez, Jr., Agustin Vasquez, George Riddle Jr., Roy Garza and Jaime Abarca.  Honorary pallbearers were David Santiago Delgado, Juan Luis Marquez, Sr., Kristopher Lewis, Gilbert Garza and Anthony Joseph Hernandez.

Thompson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
