Tim King (aka Sewer Rat) died on Nov. 3, 2014, in Hudson, Fla., after a lengthy illness. He was 61.

Tim was born on Feb. 24, 1953, in Spokane, Wash., to James and Mary King.

He spent most of his youth traveling with his military family to places such as Japan, Germany, and Spain. While in Spain, Tim played all-conference football, and semi-pro baseball, graduating in 1972.

After returning to the United States, he joined the military in the field artillery, graduating at the top of his class in his military specialty.

It was in Germany that he met his wife of 37 years, Lynda (Sarvey) King. After returning, he spent three years working for Roto-Rooter in Billings, learning his trade that eventually took him to the Big Horn Basin, where he started his own sewer and drain cleaning business, King-Rooter.

Tim also worked for Elk Basin Gas Plant for 32 years. Tim was a true entrepreneur at heart and enjoyed every challenge he met.

The biggest joys of Tim’s life were the birth of his two children, Travis and Marymarie King. In 2005, Tim welcomed his son-in-law, Matt Mavencamp, into his family as a son of his own. He was incredibly proud at the birth of his first grandchild, Elliana Mavencamp, in 2011.

Two of Tim’s greatest passions were hunting (especially pheasants) and riding his Harley. Tim enjoyed hosting family gatherings, as well as get-togethers for his children and their friends, who will always remember him for his generosity and welcoming nature.

Tim was preceded in death by his brother Michael King.

He is survived by his wife Lynda King; his children Travis King, Marymarie King, and Matt Mavencamp; his granddaughter, Elliana Mavencamp; his parents, James and Mary King; his brother John King (Alice King); and nephews Brian and Tim King.

A celebration of life will be held in upcoming months.
