A Powell volunteer firefighter was injured Thursday morning when he fell through the ceiling of a warehouse where a fire was smoldering.
Fireman Dustin Dicks was transported to Powell Valley Hospital at about 8:50 a.m. after being carried out of a warehouse in the 100 block of North Absaroka Street by other firefighters.
“He hurt his foot, that’s all it was,” Fire Chief Joey Darrah said during a 10:45 a.m. phone call. “He’s at the hospital now. He’s had X-rays.”
Darrah said he’s not sure how serious the foot injury is, but Dicks didn’t hurt his back or have other injuries.
The fire, reported at about 8:30 a.m., was smoldering in insulation in the building’s attic and had charred a truss. Smoke was filling the building, but no flames had broken out yet, Darrah said.
Firefighters punched a hole in the ceiling and doused the insulation. They cleared the scene at about 10 a.m.
