The Powell Pioneers C team divided a doubleheader with the Cody Cubs in Powell Wednesday afternoon and evening, dropping the opener 11-1 before coming back to win the second game 8-5.
“These kids have had a lot of games in the last week, and their improvement is outstanding,” said Tyler Feller, head coach of the American Legion C team.
The C level of the American Legion Baseball program includes players 15 and under. Most of the Pioneers C team are ages 13 and 14.
“Jordan Loera is still 12 years old. He came out and pitched a very good game for us in the second game against Cody,” Feller said. “He knows how to throw strikes.”
Alex Jordan, 14, has been a leading hitter for the Pioneers, his coach said, and Cole Fauskee, 13, is solid behind the plate.
“He [Fauskee] is a young catcher with a good arm. He really helps his pitchers out,” said Feller.
