Wyoming Humanities awards more than $135,000 in grants

Posted

Wyoming Humanities recently awarded tens of thousands of dollars to organizations across the state through an initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Local recipients of the grants through the Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan (SHARP) included the Buffalo Bill Center of the West and The Harry Jackson Museum of Cody.

They were among a total of more than $135,000 worth of grants awarded for general operating support, programming and recovery. The Center of the West received a $10,000 grant for general operating support while The Harry Jackson Museum received $5,000 for recovery.

While a significant amount of funding is targeted toward humanities-based organizations, other nonprofits could be eligible to receive funding from the program. The latest application closed Monday and Wyoming Humanities hopes to award thousands of dollars more in the upcoming cycle.

Wyoming Humanities’ mission is to use the public humanities to strengthen Wyoming’s democracy, expand the Wyoming narrative and promote engaged communities.
