Work underway on U.S. 14-A through Powell

Posted

Over the coming weeks, drivers will experience some construction work as they travel through Powell.

Thanks to cooperative weather, a contractor began replacing and repairing concrete slabs Monday along U.S. Highway 14-A (Coulter Avenue) as it passes through the city.

“The contractor is scheduled to be in Powell for about two weeks,” Wyoming Department of Transportation project engineer Andy Freeman of Basin said in a Thursday news release. Traffic is being limited to one lane from Douglas Street to Day Street.

The Powell Police Department said the contractor hopes to finish the work by Friday, Oct. 8.

Repairs to the highway in Powell will involve about 150 square yards of concrete, WYDOT says.

It’s part of a broader $683,000 concrete slab/repair project, led by prime contractor Riverside Contracting, Inc., of Billings. Freeman said the contractor has already completed four months of slab replacement work in Lovell. The Lovell work involved removing and replacing more than 1,600 square yards of concrete slabs — and the contractor also made more than 350 concrete spall repairs on Lovell’s main street.

Riverside Contracting, Inc., was awarded the job in February by the Wyoming Transportation Commission. The project completion date is Oct. 31.
