The work on a new Powell Library is progressing and there’s now more money to work with.
Park County Engineer Brian Edwards updated commissioners Tuesday on the progress of the demolition of the old library building, which is complete, and the backfilling of the basement, which he said is nearly compete as well.
Earlier this week the Wyoming Library Multi-Purpose Community Facility Program announced the Park County Library System was receiving just under $890,000 for the new Powell Library.
With that money on top of the main, roughly $8.4 million grant, the library has $9,386,911 in funds at its disposal before the county dips into up to $3.2 million in county funds (also from ARPA dollars) it has committed to spend.
“We do have the funding available to do the project,” Chair Dossie Overfield said.
At the meeting, commissioners agreed to amend the contract and approve a cost for the construction manager at risk, Groathouse Construction, not to exceed $11.65 million to enable the contractor to get the work needed to get started by Oct. 1 to satisfy ARPA fund requirements.
