Dear Editor:
When did it become OK to threaten a public official, our public health officer? In the recent Tribune article, the coverage included quotes from those unhappy with Dr. Aaron Billin’s handling of the mask mandate and more.
To say someone should be fired is one thing, but to say they should be “executed” and they are fine with either? No matter your politics or opinion how did our county citizens and politicians come to this point, and to have other members laugh and applaud in agreement?
Dr. Billin has followed the science, the lead of the state health officer, the CDC, scientific studies, and good medical practices. He has kept the public informed through the Park County Health Officer Facebook page, worked with our school districts, medical staff, county officials and more.
The man has spent the last year trying to keep as many of our residents healthy and alive as possible through his tireless efforts. And this is the thanks he gets because some don’t like being told what to do, even if it is for their own safety and to protect others.
Park County residents, look at yourself. This is a pandemic, like it or not. When you become OK with threatening those you disagree with, or those who make those statements, what have you become?
