Wells Fargo Powell location closed indefinitely

Wells Fargo has temporarily closed its Powell location, and the company has no date for when it will reopen.

In a statement, the company said the closure is due to COVID-19-related staffing constraints and that the Powell branch will resume operations as soon as possible.

In the meantime, Powell customers are being directed to use the bank’s Cody location for in-person banking needs. Wells Fargo’s statement also said most activities that are done in-person can now be completed electronically through the company’s mobile app or website, including depositing checks, sending money and managing accounts.

“We continue to evaluate our branch network in light of changing customer needs,” the bank’s statement said.

Not all customers, however, are comfortable with the online options. Clark resident Clinton Phillips, who operates a law office in Powell, said he prefers banking in-person.

“It’s just an inconvenience to me … I’m not as in tune with doing things electronically as some people,” Phillips said.

He said he’ll be taking his business elsewhere.

During the pandemic, Wells Fargo’s Powell branch had, like many banks, limited access to the lobby and directed customers to the driv-thru. The branch’s ATM will continue to be available, and there is a branch locator on the Wells Fargo website that provides status of branches and ATM locations.
