A weekend accident in Meeteese claimed the life of a 56-year-old Basin woman.
Wyoming Highway Patrol officers were dispatched on June 29 to the scene of a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of WYO 120 South and County Road 3LE.
A 2001 Subaru Legacy, driven by a Basin woman, failed to yield at a stop sign. A Ford F150 pulling a trailer up the highway was coming toward the Subaru. The driver of the Ford attempted to steer away from the car, but was unable to prevent a collision.
The unrestrained occupants of the Subaru were ejected from the vehicle. The Ford rolled over onto its top, and the trailer broke free.
Emergency responders performed CPR on the Basin woman, but she died on scene. The other occupant of the Subaru was transported by ambulance to Cody.
One occupant in the Ford was flown by helicopter to Billings, and an ambulance drove the other occupant to Cody.
Investigators are still trying to determine why the driver of the Subaru did not yield to traffic as it pulled onto the highway.
