Northwest College rodeo wrapped up its 2020-21 campaign last month.
Three riders — Austin Herrera, Sterling Rogers and Cody Weeks — participated at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper from June 15-19. As a team, Northwest finished 33rd out of 50 teams who competed at college rodeo’s culminating event, totaling 109.5 points.
Finishing 14th in bull riding, Herrera had Northwest’s top individual performance with a score of 72. Rogers didn’t record a score in the same event. In saddle bronc riding, Weeks’ score of 79.5 was good enough for 24th place.
All in all, the team’s performance in the 2021 spring impressed coach Del Nose, who said it was supposed to be a “rebuilding” year.
“We just need to keep right on progressing,” he said. “It was supposed to be a rebuilding year, and we did pretty good for that. Both teams really put it together.”
