Trapper basketball starts season on the road

One of the longest road trips of the season will take place right away for the Northwest Trapper basketball teams as they travel Tuesday to Williston, North Dakota.

Both teams this season feature a lot of new faces, and will look to make improvements early on in the campaign.

The Trapper women bring in 11 new players this season to go alongside two returners to try and improve on a 14-14 record under second year head coach Lauren Davis.

On the men’s side, Northwest brings back five players familiar with the program that finished 13-16 last year along with 13 new players.

That includes a new interim head coach this season in Andy Ward, who makes his return to Northwest after a decade — he previously served as the head coach in Powell from 2007-12.

The women’s game on Tuesday is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. tip off and the men follow at 7:30 p.m.

Both teams will have their home openers next Friday, taking on the Rocky Mountain JV at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

See a recap of the Williston State games and a full preview of the upcoming season for both teams in next Thursday’s Powell Tribune.
