Dear Editor:

Is there something wrong with this picture? Masks.

Emperor Fauci announced in January that COVID-19 was unlikely to reach the United States. Next up, spreading of the virus was negligible. Once that was proven inaccurate, the potentate subsequently conveyed to the masses that masks were not essential. Chapter 4: Masks will help prevent individuals from getting COVID. This belief maintained its foundation for about three weeks, until the king announced that masks will not keep the wearer from getting sick, but stave off others from obtaining the virus. The saga continues.

Those who have had COVID, well, the privilege of a mask-free reality exists for only two to three weeks. But I digress. The overlord calmed the crowd with the assurance that once a vaccine was discovered, life could return to normal. No longer the case. Even with a vaccine, we must continue to wear masks due to the possibility of a mutation. Lord Fauci has been incorrect, inconsistent and wavering with each and every assessment of this situation. Please forgive me when I have the audacity to question the opinion of a man whose only prevailing motive is to protect himself and his reputation and legacy, with or without a mask on his face.

Ask any random person in Park County how many people have died of COVID. What would they say? How many articles have been written or posted in the Cody Enterprise/Powell Tribune since March that have focused on COVID-19, the number of people with the virus, and the impact on the local community? Based on the headlines, front page font, banners and feature stories, you would suspect the number of deaths to be equivalent to 25% of the population.

Eight. The answer is eight people have died in Park County.

Rigged election: Here is a possible explanation for all those questioning a “partially rigged election.” Why would “they” rig an election and not incorporate a majority in the House and Senate? Can an expert be a fool?

As Election Day unfolded, the last line of defense for the Democrats was a manipulation of mail in ballots. Their preference was a sincere, truthful triumph, but as the results suggested Trump as the front runner, the end began to justify the means.

Russian collusion, the Ukraine, impeachment, Justice Kavanaugh. The Democrats have made it magnificently clear, even before he took office, that Trump must go by any means necessary. The exploitation of mail-in ballots was constructed six minutes after COVID became a household word. Are we to believe that the majority of 140 million people voted for Biden, but decided to vote Republican for Senate and the House?

The perceived obligation to remove Trump at any cost was only eclipsed by the hysteria and bumbling approach at which “they” were more concerned with one man and not the broad view.

Yes, folks, something is very wrong with this picture. The moment we petition our neighbors to ignore common sense, disregard judgment and implore an unnatural and unhealthy way of existence, the least of our problems is a mask or rigged election.
