Our community is blessed to have the Powell Tribune that gives our high school students the opportunity to explore and pursue their passions. Featuring the academic and athletic activities of PMS students also builds their self-esteem. I have a wall in the classroom where all the pictures and articles are posted. It is called “Students in the News.”
No teacher can fill the void created by Mrs. Amanda Johnston. Her students love and miss her. It is my privilege to teach/care for her students as she is home meeting the needs of her family.
The staff at Powell Middle School has been kind welcoming me back. So much has changed since I retired, particularly in technology. The sixth grade team has been understanding and patient as they help me navigate all of the new technology.
Decades ago, I made a goal the first year I taught. It was to retire having the same enthusiasm I began with and to teach the children of my former students. This goal was achieved this year.
Thank you for all the kind comments on Facebook. They made me cry tears of happiness to know that you remember me and that I made a difference in your lives. You and my students this year are very special.
Be sure to read CJ Baker’s and Braden Schiller’s articles. They are my former students. God bless all of you.
