Have you ever heard of a “blood–brain barrier”? If you haven’t, you may want to attend the next AAUW (American Association of University Women) meeting being held Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Intercultural House at Northwest College. NWC Instructor of Biology Mathew Osborne, who teaches biology, anatomy and physiology, will present a talk titled, “Blood-Brain Barrier: The History, Present and Future” that will cover the phenomenon.
Osborne is interested in the science of teaching and learning. He also hopes to modify and improve his teaching methods to promote better retention.
“What better place than an AAUW meeting to see how his methods are working, since we have no clue as to what is a ‘brain-barrier,’” said Claudia Fisher of the Powell-based chapter.
Prior to the program, AAUW members will have a short business meeting at 4:15 followed by refreshments.
“Everyone is invited to attend this meeting and discover new things about your brain,” Fisher said.
