Study of Bighorn moose unnecessary

Dear Editor:

I don’t understand why the moose on the Bighorns have to be studied. They have been doing exceptionally well on their own. There are more moose on the Bighorns now than ever before. They are not starving, nor being ravaged by diseases or being wiped out by overhunting. Mother Nature is taking very good care of them. They sure don’t need human intervention in their lives unless hunting and poaching becomes a problem. Then that is a problem for the game wardens and the policy makers.

What is the purpose of this study? A college thesis — a way for the Game and Fish to muck up the moose population just as they have with so many of our other species of wildlife, and an opportunity to expand their socialistic control over our wildlife and the public. This is our wildlife they are using, just to provide more dream jobs.

I believe that tranquilizing, collaring and vaccinating the moose will destroy their wild status, and create unnatural problems for them that will eventually kill them. A visual with hands off is all the study the Game and Fish need in order to protect and manage wildlife in a way that benefits the wildlife and the public. The G & F should start doing the job they were originally created to do. The G & F is using this as an opportunity to get more experts, more specialists and up their science research to create job security for the many employees of the G & F for years to come.

Many species of our wildlife have been disappearing with this type of management. Let’s just add another one to the list.
