The American Legion baseball state tournament concluded Wednesday in Powell, with the Cody Cubs defeating the Casper Crush 12-10 in eight innings for the championship.

En route to the title, Cody defeated Casper twice, as well as Torrington and Douglas. In the winner-take-all game against Casper, the Cubs scored five in the eighth inning to secure the win.

The win at state came just a week after Cody fell to Powell in the district tournament, giving the district title to the Pioneers.

The Pioneers went 1-2 at the state tournament, defeating Cheyenne but falling to Douglas and Torrington. They finished the season 15-18 and won the tournament’s sportsmanship award.
