After a quiet December in 2020, the sounds of the season will return this year in an array of holiday concerts, with classic carols, yuletide favorites and plenty of jingle bells.
From kindergartners to seniors, students in Park County School District 1 will perform in Christmas programs throughout the coming weeks, with the first on Monday. Northwest College musicians also will present holiday concerts in December.
The following performances are free to attend, unless otherwise noted:
• The Powell Middle School band and choir will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at the Powell High School Auditorium.
• PHS band, choir and guitar students will present their concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the PHS Auditorium.
• Parkside Elementary School students will take the stage beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the PHS Auditorium.
• The Northwest Civic Orchestra will host their winter concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium at NWC. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and free for children.
• Middle school and high school jazz musicians will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at the PHS Auditorium.
• The Northwest College Collegiate Choir and Powell High School Choir will return to present their annual Vespers concert at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8. The popular holiday-music event takes place at First United Methodist Church, 137 W. Second St. in Powell. Prelude music will be provided by the NWC Brass Ensemble.
• Southside Elementary School students will present their Christmas concert beginning at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at the PHS Auditorium.
• NWC music faculty invites the community to an evening of Christmas cheer with a special performance at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, at the Nelson Performing Arts Auditorium. Come early for wassail and holiday treats starting at 6 p.m. in the lobby of the auditorium.
• Clark Elementary School students will perform in a Christmas program beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the elementary school, 363 Road 1AB in Clark.
• Westside Elementary School students will present local schools’ final Christmas program for the season at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at the PHS Auditorium.
