Dear Editor:
I had not entered Powell from the east for quite some time, as I did a few days ago. I was immediately affronted by a large TRUMP WON sign.
The fact that he did not win has been upheld by every court it was contested in and through several state recounts, at a great expense to those states. He lost and even ardent intelligent Trump supporters concede that fact.
I have no problem with signs and flags that support any candidate; it is part of the whole election process, and I do know about freedom of speech. There is also an unwritten code that suggests that as part of a community we try not to take actions that degrade it.
If we are going to welcome visitors to our community with that sign then we might as well hang banners all over town that say, THE MOON IS MADE OF CHEESE, or THE EARTH IS FLAT, or ELECT ALFRED E. NEWMAN (i.e. the character from Mad Magazine).
That sign makes all of us look like we are a community of dunces, which we are not.
