The Powell High School Wyoming Alumni Association continues a tradition over a century old with its 108th all-class reunion this Friday and Saturday. The reunion will include the annual golf tournament, get togethers and other community events.

The class of 1962 will be holding its 60th reunion Friday evening at the Eagles Lodge in Powell, beginning at 5 p.m. There will be finger food and music. Currently, 50 classmates and spouses are expected to attend.

Approximately 50 people are also expected to attend the 55th plus two reunion of the class of 1965 at The Commons.

The class of 1972 will be celebrating its 50th reunion at 6 p.m. at the American Legion. The dinner, which will feature a taco bar from Hickory Street Catering and desserts, will cost $20 per person. Currently, 70 members of the class and  some spouses will be in attendance.

Checks can be made out to the PHS Class of 72 or delivered to Laurie Sweet at 961 Lane 8.

The class of 1977 will be holding its 45th class reunion at the Elks Lodge in Powell at 6 p.m. There will be food, drinks and the chance to catch up for all in attendance.

The class of 1982 will be having its 40th reunion starting at 6 p.m. at Scott Argento’s house. There will be a bonfire along with cornhole games, a full bar and food provided by Wicked Eats. Porta potties will be

available on site. The planning committee asks that all classmates donate $20 for the cost of the porta potties and as gratuity for Wicked Eats. Fifty people are expected to join the celebration.

The class of 2002 will be holding its 20th reunion at 7:30 p.m. at the American Dream Drive In Friday.

This year’s events will include the Panther Invitational Golf Tournament, beginning on Friday morning at 10 a.m.

Saturday at 7 a.m. there will be an Orange and Black Panther Fun Run, hosted by the Lady Panther Volleyball team; a morning breakfast at 8 a.m. at the American Legion Hall; and finally, a downtown poker walk. There will also be the Trapper Classic Car Show from 10 a.m- 2 p.m. at the NWC campus. This will be followed by a “bring your own everything” get together in Washington Park at noon and capped by a get together at the fairgrounds that will feature a cornhole tournament, entertainment and refreshments.

This is the first year for the poker walk which is sponsored by the Friends of the Powell Library. The event is designed to get alumni downtown to see new businesses. Participants who buy in for $5 will walk to participating businesses to cards to complete their hands. Participants will turn in hands at 12:30 p.m.

The owner of the winning hand will receive 50% of the money gathered from the entry fees, while the remaining 50% will go to the Powell Library.

“Well, to me, this is about the high school of course, but it’s also about the community,” alumni association board member Gerry Wilkins said.
