Rendering released of planned Cody temple

The planned Cody temple will be a roughly 9,950-square-foot, one-story building with a central tower, a look familiar to those who have been to other locations in the region. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released an artist’s rendering of the planned Cody temple March 27, just two weeks after unveiling the location.

The temple is to be built on the west of Skyline Drive and north of the Cody Canal, in the southwest part of the city.

It will be the state’s third house of the Lord, following the Star Valley Wyoming Temple, which was dedicated in 2016, and the Casper Wyoming Temple, which had its groundbreaking ceremony the same month the Cody temple was announced.

According to the church release, temples are where faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ participate in sacred religious ceremonies that unite families forever and encourage them to live virtuous lives and follow Jesus Christ. Latter-day Saints perform these ceremonies for themselves and on behalf of deceased ancestors who were unable to participate while living.
