Powell students awarded for good sportsmanship

From December through February, a total of 23 Powell High School students received the good sportsmanship award from the Wyoming High School Activities Association for their excellent sportsmanship while in the competitive field. WHSAA commissioner Ron Laird and Assistant Commissioner Trevor Wilson sent a letter for each student to Powell High School Principal Tim Wormald.

Students are chosen for their “exemplary conduct and good sportsmanship.” At each of their recent Park County School District 1 Board of Trustees meetings, the trustees have recognized more than one student for good sportsmanship. The students recognized are:

• Lauren Bennett for the Cody vs. Powell basketball game on Dec. 17;

• Abby Wambeke for the Powell vs. Tongue River basketball game at the East-West Classic tournament on Dec. 10-11;

• Kami Jensen for the Powell vs. Big Horn basketball game at the East-West Classic tournament on Dec. 10-11;

• Maddie Campbell for the Powell vs. Buffalo basketball game at the East-West Classic tournament on Dec. 10-11;

• Keaton Rowton for the Cody vs. Powell basketball game on Jan. 6;

• Catelyn Floy for the Rocky Mountain vs. Powell basketball games on Jan. 8;

• Trey Stenerson for the Rocky Mountain vs. Powell basketball games on Jan. 8;

• Sage Kidd for the Big Horn basketball tournament Jan. 14;

• Kaili Wisniewski  for the Big Horn basketball tournament Jan. 14;

• Megan Jacobsen for the Big Horn basketball tournament Jan. 14;

• Maddie Campbell for the Lander vs. Powell basketball game on Jan. 25;

• Gunnar Erickson  for the Lander vs. Powell basketball game on Jan. 25;

• Caden Sherman for the 2021-2022 swim season;
