Dear Editor:
In response to recent social media activity sharing misinformation about our Emergency Department, Powell Valley Healthcare would like to clarify that patients who come to the ER are never turned away or denied care.
We place the safety and security of our patients and staff at the highest level of importance. We regularly see patients and their families when they are going through very difficult experiences and we understand that emotions sometimes are high. When patients or family members become verbally aggressive and profane, and create disruption within the ER, it creates challenges for everyone involved.
Powell Valley Healthcare wants to reassure our community that we are here for patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are always ready to provide emergency medical care to anyone who comes through our doors or calls for emergency help.
Terry Odom, Chief Executive Officer
June Minchow, Emergency Services Director
