The Powell Pioneers Legion Baseball B team played a set of road games against the Cody Cubs last weekend, going 1-1.
In game one, the Pioneers fell behind early, with Cody taking a 3-2 lead in the third inning. But after that, it was all Powell. The Pioneers scored 11 runs in the next two frames to clinch a 13-3 win in five innings.
Offensively, Dalton Worstell led the team with three hits, while Cole Fauskee’s four RBIs were a team-high. On the mound, Aiden Greenwald earned the win, pitching a complete game and holding the Cubs scoreless in the last two innings.
Cody again pushed ahead early in the second game, this time leading 8-2 after two innings. The Pioneers found an offensive groove later in the game, but it wasn’t enough, as Cody escaped with an 11-10 victory.
Ethan Welch was the only Pioneer with multiple hits in the loss, recording two knocks and three RBIs.
Now 14-18 overall, the Pioneers head to the state tournament in Gillette this weekend, where they will wrap up their season.
