Pickup crashes into rural home

Alcohol and substance abuse not a factor

No injuries resulted when an airborne pickup truck crashed into a vacant room of the home of Les and Bobbie Cloninger at 1208 Lane 11 1/2.

According to the Park County Sheriff’s Department, the 2021 Dodge pickup veered off the road on April 13, hit a vinyl irrigation pipe and then continued across a field. The vehicle hit a vinyl fence and then a concrete irrigation ditch, which sent the truck into the air and crashing into an unoccupied room of the home.

The driver was able to exit the pickup truck without assistance and was taken by ambulance to the Powell Valley Hospital, according to the sheriff’s department. The department said there were no signs of substance abuse or driver impairment, and the accident appeared to be the result of a medical issue.

“We had a lot of help (the day of the crash) and it’s just a blessing to live in a small community,” said Leslie Cannon, daughter of the Cloningers.
