The Panther volleyball team’s season came to an end on Thursday, with the team dropping its first match in the regional cross-quadrant tournament to Lander Valley.
From the beginning of the match, it was all Tigers. Lander took a sizable lead early in the first set and eventually won it, 25-11.
The subsequent sets were slightly closer, but the Panthers were still unable to find their rhythm. PHS dropped sets two and three by scores of 25-16 and 25-14, respectively, sealing the 3-0 loss and ending Powell’s season.
This marked Powell’s third loss of the year to Lander Valley, with the Panthers falling in three sets each time. PHS finished the season 7-10 overall.
Pinedale won the Class 3A West regional tournament and will take the conference’s No. 1 seed to this week’s state tournament, followed by No. 2 Mountain View, No. 3 Worland and No. 4 Lander.
Stats and additional information were unavailable as of press time Monday. A more complete story will follow in Thursday’s edition.
