The Powell Panther girls’ swim team improved back in Fremont County, with each athlete contributing to a third place finish.

“For the first time this year, all 13 of our attending athletes were able to score individual points for the team,” coach Bob Smartt said.

Powell was led by Kaitlin Diver, who had the lone victory at the meet after winning the 100 breaststroke by eight seconds with a time of 1:16.5.

She also earned a second place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:31.8.

Just behind Diver in scoring was Patricia Christensen, who finished second in the 200 free (2:31.8) and the 500 free (6:20.75).

Powell also saw several additional top eight performances, as Addy Powell placed third in the 100 back (1:16.24) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:46.81); Myah Rakness placed fourth in diving (145.65); Anika Anderson placed fifth in the 100 back (1:21.26); Brooke Brown placed seventh in the 100 back (1:22.06); Kate Miller placed seventh in the 100 breast (1:27.99) and Samantha Young placed eighth in the 200 free (2:44.44).

“Brooke scored a total of 12 individual points for the team, reflecting her excellent training week in practice,” Smartt said.

Powell had two relays place fourth, as the team of Christensen, Miller, Powell and Anderson placed fourth in the 200 medley relay (2:17.09) and the team of Powell, Christensen, Diver and Miller were fourth in the 400 free relay (4:41.29).

Powell heads back on the road this weekend, making the short trip to Worland on Saturday to take part in an invitational.

The Panthers will also take part in a triangular in Cody next Tuesday, Oct. 1.
