About 20 pet owners commissioned portraits of their pets in a November fundraiser for the Powell Animal Shelter.
The pets — all dogs — were shined up and presented by their owners for photographs Nov. 7, from which artist Lisa Kethley will do portraits. Most signed up for $20 charcoal drawings.
The fundraiser exceeded its goal of $500, said Cathy Marine, board member of Caring for Powell Animals, the project sponsor. Many offered donations beyond the cost of a pet portrait.
“I had no idea the drawing of pets would go over so well,” Kethley said.
